Naval charts from the Siege of the Barrier Reef β 1979-1980
The Siege of the Barrier Reef was the longest and most brutal engagement of Ocean War II. Lasting approximately six months, it saw the Crustacean Coalition's 79th Claw Regiment holding the Eastern Line against relentless Cephalopod assaults from three directions.
These declassified naval charts were recovered from the 79th Regiment's command tent following the Coral Treaty of 1982. Some areas remain redacted β either due to ongoing strategic sensitivity or because Grandpa Claw spilled kelp coffee on them.
[NAVAL CHART β EASTERN LINE DEFENSES]
79th Reg. HQ | Coral Ridge | The Cracker Line | Cephalopod Approach
Battle of Coral Ridge β Day 23: Grandpa Claw led the first successful counter-assault, reclaiming the southern watchtower after 14 hours of continuous fighting. Three medals awarded.
The Night of 1000 Tentacles β Day 67: Largest single Cephalopod offensive. The Crackers held with 40% casualties. The Angler Scouts provided critical early warning that saved the line.
The Final Push β Day 182: Grandpa Claw's 14th and final counter-assault broke the Cephalopod siege. Both sides retreated to regroup. The Treaty negotiations began three weeks later.
"The map shows where we were. It doesn't show what it cost. Every ridge on that coral meant a claw. Every shell we held meant something. The ocean remembers."
